The Nusratiyah Mosque was commissioned by Sultan Mahmud II, and was built on the site of the former Amir Arabiglar military barracks. His architectural plans were completed in 1826, and designed by Kirko Balyan of the famous Balyan family who was responsible for many buildings The mosque is considered a beautiful example of Baroque architecture, and it takes the form of a square, and its central dome is 33 meters high. It is made of granite and supported by four round arches. The mosque also contains two minarets, and its facade is surrounded by decorative work in the Empire style.
