Information about Nilometer
It is an ancient archaeological landmark with a cultural and scientific background. It was used in the past to measure the water level in the Nile River. The scale had an employee responsible for writing down the numbers and handing them over to state officials. If the water level exceeded more than 16 cubits, it was considered a plentiful rainy season. Celebrations for that. It has a beautiful Islamic architectural form, with its stepped marble column, and the deep well that is located inside it, which is accessed through an internal staircase, and its walls are distinguished by Quranic verses that relate to plants and water. It is a wonderful place where it shows that the dependence of the Egyptians in ancient times was based on the flooding of the Nile River in order to earn their livelihood and make the land fertile and suitable for agriculture.
