Bab Nerjal, or as it is called locally, Bab Nergal, is one of the distinctive monuments of the city of Mosul, as it is one of the gates of the walls of the city of Nineveh in its north. As for the name, Nargal or Nerjal is the god of the dead among the ancient Iraqis, and he was the chief deity of the city of Kothi. The door has a huge majestic architectural design, as it consists of huge red stones, in addition to some distinctive statues belonging to some ancient gods.
