Information about National Museum of Archaeology
The museum displays an astonishing collection of artifacts dating from the Neolithic period of Malta (5000 BC), to the Phoenician period (400 BC). The oldest tools used by people in the prehistoric period are displayed to facilitate their daily tasks, and the representation of animal and human figures on displays. These items not only show the great artistic skills of the early islanders but also give us insight into their daily lives. Among the most prominent features that the museum displays are the "Sleeping Lady", "Venus of Malta", and bronze daggers (recovered from the Bronze Age layers in the Tarxian temples), in addition to the necklace of Horus Anubis, and the anthropomorphic sarcophagus, which belong to the Phoenician period.
