St. John's Basilica is a jewel of Baroque art and architecture. It was built as a monastery church for the Knights of Saint John between 1573 and 1577. This cathedral contains two of Caravaggio's masterpieces, and is to this day an important historical shrine, a place of sacred worship, and cultural events. St. John's Church is managed by the institution responsible for the religious cultural heritage of the memorial.
