The Machado de Castro National Museum is an art museum in Coimbra, named after the famous Portuguese sculptor Joaquim Machado de Castro, one of the most important art museums in Portugal, located in the former Archbishops Palace built during the Middle Ages above the Forum Roman, and nowadays its remains can be visited through the museum, which displays many historical and archaeological pieces that originated from the churches and monasteries of Coimbra and the surrounding area.
