Information about Nabatean Theatre
This theater is considered the first Nabatean theater that was established in the first century AD, which is located about 600 meters from the center of Petra. The Nabataean Amphitheater or Petra Theatre, which was carved into the side of the mountain at the foot of the High Palace of Nahr, consists of three rows of seats separated by corridors, and also includes seven staircases that reach the hall and can accommodate 4,000 spectators. This amphitheater was carved into sandstone during the reign of King Aretas IV, between the year 4 BC and the year 27 AD, and the Romans reconstructed the back wall of it.
