One of the historical finds found while searching for the remnants of Halicarnassus, this gate is the last remaining piece of the once mighty fortress walls of King Mausolus, wrapped around the ancient city for seven kilometers. For tourists there are plenty of small ruins nearby, including scattered tombs and mosaic fragments left at the site, as well as scattered remains of a trench from the fourth century BC. None of these remnants are in and of themselves a wow factor, but together, they have a great time exploring.
