The Museum of Turkish and Islamic Arts was the first museum in Turkey to combine works of Turkish and Islamic art, and it was established in 1914 as a museum of Islamic institutions in the Emirate building in the Sulaymaniyah complex built by the great Turkish architect Sinan in the sixteenth century, then the name of the museum was changed to the Museum of Arts Turkish and Islamic after the declaration of the republic and moved to its current location in the 16th century Ibrahim Pasha Palace in 1983, and the museum’s core collection includes Islamic artworks collected from all over the Ottoman Empire at the beginning of the twentieth century, these works include carpets, manuscripts and metalwork Glassware, ceramics, wood and ethnographic materials, the collection represents a broad period ranging from the emergence of Islam to the 20th century and the vast geographical area ruled by the Ottoman Empire.
