Located on the hill of Montjuïc, the National Museum of Art of Catalonia contains an impressive collection of Catalan paintings and designs from the 19th and 20th centuries; It was announced in 1990 and officially opened in 2004. It contains a wide and huge collection of art divided into different sections. The museum also houses the works of the great advocates of the Catalan Art Nouveau movement and Catalan modernity such as Gaudi and Casas. With works by great painters, such as El Greco, Zurbaran, Velásquez, Cranach and Rubens.
