Information about Museo Sacro
The importance of this museum is due to the fact that it contains an old cemetery that was built in 1673 in the old Caracas cathedral. In 1876, Venezuelan President Antonio Blanco issued a decree prohibiting burials in the old cemeteries, and accordingly the work of the cemetery stopped. Later, this cathedral was used as a place for teaching seminars, and then in 1981, by presidential decree, this place was declared a Christian Catholic Museum and a National and Historical Landmark.
