This museum includes many artistic and popular holdings dating back to the period between the end of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century, in addition to exhibits documenting daily life, work, and popular religiosity in the pre-industrial era. The main collection of this museum was collected by the eroticologist Lamberto Loria (1855-1913), and was shown at the Ethnographic Gallery in Rome in 1911 on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary celebrations of Italy. The museum also hosts thematic exhibitions on Italian and foreign arts and traditions, as well as contemporary exhibitions by authors with works inspired by distinctive folk traditions.
