The Leon Trotsky Museum honors the late Russian Marxist rebel, theorist and founding leader of the Red Army, Leon Trotsky. He led the unsuccessful struggle of the Russian Left Opposition in the 1920s and was exiled from the Soviet Union in 1929. On Stalin's orders, Trotsky was assassinated in Mexico City in 1940 by a Spanish-born Soviet agent.
