The Tulunid Mosque is located in Ahmed Ibn Tulun Square in the Sayeda Zeinab neighborhood of the southern region of Cairo. It is one of the famous archaeological mosques in Cairo and one of the largest mosques in Egypt in general. It is a historical mosque that was built in 263 AH by order of Ahmed Ibn Tulun, founder of the Tulunid state, and is the oldest existing mosque in Egypt. So far, it has retained its original condition compared to other mosques. The mosque is classified as an architectural masterpiece whose design was creative in terms of harmonious decorations in a striking way, as it is a model in the history of Islamic architecture in Egypt, and the mosque is also evidence of the flourishing of Islamic civilization in Egypt during the Tulunid era.
