Information about Gayer-Anderson Museum
This museum houses antiquities collected by John Gayer Anderson, a British member of the Egyptian civil service in the 1930s and 1940s, who restored two adjacent houses from the 16th and 17th centuries decorated with mashrabiyas and marble fixtures after they had fallen into disrepair. These two houses originally belong to Muhammad bin Al-Hajj Salem and Mrs. Amna bint Salem. This museum contains many wonderful artifacts, old furniture, paintings, statues, chests and many more. It is a distinctive museum that reflects the life of the ancient Egyptians and shows the beauty of Egyptian houses with ornate floors. Be one of the tourists who visit it from all over the world and visit it and learn about all its facilities and contents with your family or friends.
