The Montejo House Museum is located in the southern part of the historic city square, in a grandiose building from the sixteenth century AD. It is considered one of the best examples of Spanish colonial architecture in Mexico, and is furnished with artifacts imported from Europe, it also houses the coat of arms of the Montejo family and a collection of stone carvings of the conqueror standing with one foot on the bowed head of the conquered Maya, in addition to hosting a range of cultural events.
