Mérida Cathedral, located near the historic city square, has origins dating back to the 15th century AD. It has a striking architecture from the Renaissance era, built in part using stone from the ruins of the Mayan civilization, and has an exquisite exterior design, elegant interiors, frescoes and Indian wood carvings from the 16th century AD.
