The Furnas Research and Monitoring Center was established on the southern bank of Furnas Lake in 2011 with the aim of disseminating the history of the evolution of the Furnas volcano and the protection and restoration of ecosystems in the Furnas Lake Conservation Area, featuring an interactive media exhibit that invites visitors to “travel” through the natural heritage of the Furnas Valley and its lake and discover its geology, volcanoes and systems lake environment. In addition, the outdoor area of the center includes a picnic area, restrooms, parking and a large green area with a distinctive view of the lake.
