The date of the foundation of the monastery of Saint Stephen dates back to the end of the twelfth century, i.e. around the year 1192, and there are several documents, each of which refers to a different founder of the monastery, including: Archimandrite Saint Anthony and the monk Saint Philotheus, and due to the religious and historical status of this important archaeological landmark, it constitutes an outstanding destination for local residents as well as foreign tourists.
