The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin was built over the remains of the ancient Greek temple of Apollo. It is one of the oldest churches in the city of Kalabaka, as its construction dates back to the first centuries AD. The church is dedicated to the Virgin Mary and still receives its visitors who come to see the various architecture that entered the building through the ages, religious icons, and religious paintings.
