The Rebirth Monument in Bucharest commemorates the struggle and victims of the 1989 revolution that marked the end of communist rule in Romania. It was opened to the public in August 2005, and is located in Revolution Square; It is the place where Romanian Communist-era dictator Nicolae Ceauşescu was publicly overthrown in December 1989. Designed by Alexandru Ghilduş, the memorial features a 25-meter-high marble column with a metal "crown" above it.
