The Mausoleum of Mausolus was built for Mausolus, ruler of Halicarnassus between 353 and 350 BC in Halicarnassus (present-day Bodrum) in the style of ancient Greek architecture, erected with brilliant marble and decorated with intricate statues of animals and people, according to the designs of the Greek architects Satyros and Pythes. The end of the shrine is so beautiful that the ancient historian Antipatros classified it as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
