Information about Masjid Al Hakim
Al-Hakim Mosque is the second largest Fatimid mosque in Egypt and was modeled after the Ahmed Ibn Tulun Mosque. The mosque was built mainly of bricks, with the exception of the two unique minarets, which were made of imported stone. The mosque consists of an open courtyard with four halls "arcade" surrounding it from the four directions, the largest and most beautiful of which is the qibla portico, which determines the direction of Mecca, where Muslims must turn during prayer. This mosque is one of the best examples of Islamic architecture in the country.
