The market square is Eindhoven's main square, surrounded by cozy restaurants and cafés and, as its name suggests, various markets frequently held, including a small antiques market on Saturdays. The square houses a number of statues of famous city dwellers, such as Jan van Hooff and Frits Philips, and despite the fact that some of the old buildings in it have been demolished over the years, there are still some national monuments. A municipality that deserves admiration.
