The Frits Philips memorial is located on the market square in the center of Eindhoven. It was unveiled to the public in 1997. It is the work of the famous Dutch sculptor Kees Verkade. The family of Frits Philips was shown five examples of possible sculptures To choose from and thought that the current model is the most suitable. Made entirely of bronze and about three feet high, the statue represents the nephew of one of the pioneers of the Philips company, Gerard Philips, who after a while became president of the company, and died at the age of 100 in 2005.
