Malindi Mosque is the oldest mosque in Zanzibar. It was built nearly 500 years ago and is located in a densely populated area of Malindi near the ferry terminal and the mouth of Zanzibar port. It contains a unique minaret of a cone type on a square platform that is very rare in the Islamic world. Originally by Sunni Muslims and named Al-Manara Mosque.
