Anbar office was built by a Damascene-Jewish merchant in the second half of the nineteenth century AD. It is surrounded by 3 spacious courtyards and is decorated with trees and green plants. It has an ancient oriental architectural style. After this merchant became bankrupt, the palace was converted into a school for the sons of the land-owning families in Damascus, and then the school was turned into a museum of handicrafts; Today, this ancient palace represents the main seat of the old municipality of Damascus.
