Mada'in Saleh, also known as Al-Hijr, is an archaeological site located in the Al-Ula Governorate. Its historical fame derives from its strategic location on the ancient trade route linking southern Arabia and the Levant. It is mentioned in the Qur'an as the home of the Thamud people who responded to the call of the Prophet of God.
