St. Mary Lutheran Cathedral is located in the east of Sibiu, and is distinguished by its amazing pointed ceilings, Gothic facade, and the suspended tower that is about 73 meters high. Due to this, it is famous for being the highest cathedral in Romania. It was built in the 14th century on the site of an earlier church, this cathedral was used as a burial site for Sibiu mayors, rulers and aristocrats, and today it is one of the most prominent and famous monuments in the region.
