Information about Lions' Gate
The Lions Gate is located near the Mount of Olives and the Via Dolorosa in the occupied city of Jerusalem. This is one of the seven gates that were built in the wall of the Old City, and it is the only one that opens towards the east. The door was built during the sixteenth century by the Ottoman Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent, and on both sides of the door there are decorations in the form of lions, and legend says that the decorations of lions were integrated into the door, after Sultan Suleiman saw in his sleep lions trying to devour him because of the status of the city of Jerusalem, which was not protected fences at that time.
