Information about Leprosy Museum
Most people have probably never visited a leprosy museum before. A very old hospital dating back to the 15th century, making it one of the oldest in Scandinavia and one of the best in Europe. The current buildings date from the 18th century, but the last two patients there died in 1946. Norwegian scientists have made significant contributions to the studies of leprosy, including Gerhard Armauer Hansen who discovered the leprosy bacteria in 1873. A wonderful museum that displays History of the city and its contribution to ancient medicine.
