Information about Leper's Tower
Built on the ruins of an ancient Roman tower, the Lieber Tower takes its name from the story of a novel by Xavier de Maestre published in 1811 that told the story of a man named Pierre Bernard Guasco, a native of Onelia, who was imprisoned there from 1773 to 1803. This story inspired Lieber to stand out from the city of Aosta He built the tower. The tower was restored by the Regional Office of Archeology in Piedmont and Liguria led by Alfredo Andrade in 1890. The place attracts tourists in the city with the aim of getting acquainted with the ancient Roman architectural style during the nineteenth century. It is worth noting that the area includes a range of food stalls and shops for souvenirs and handicrafts.
