The gate of the lake is one of the main gates through which Iznik residents and visitors could enter the Iznik Castle when visiting it, but today the gate is located in the ruined part of the castle to the extent that its former presence can hardly be traced. Part of the tower near this door still stands today, from which one can infer the location of the previous door and walk around its massive base.
