Information about La Piscine
The Musée de La Piscine is located near Lille and is probably the only museum that used to have a swimming pool. The municipal indoor pool was established in 1932 and was famous for being ahead of its time in terms of structure and facilities. It was closed in 1985 due to safety hazards from a possible week roof and was reconstructed as an art museum by the architect Jean-Paul Philippon in 2001. A unique and architectural masterpiece, the museum displays fine and applied arts including collections of textile, ceramics, furniture, fashion, design and graphics carvings and paintings.
