Książ Castle was built in the thirteenth century, and was home to many noble families such as the great Hochberg family, and between 1509 and 1941, this family expanded the palace and contributed greatly to its wonderful design that we see today, and during World War II, the occupying German forces took over the palace, and many of the historic rooms were destroyed, and after systematic looting by German occupiers and later by the Red Army, renovation work was undertaken in 1952 to restore the palace to its former grandeur, and today, visitors can enjoy the luxury of the many rooms, terraces and surrounding gardens.
