The Kocatepe Monument, also known as the Ataturk Monument, is located in the Kocatepe region, 20 km from the city of Afyon. It is a statue of the General Commander Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, made of bronze, weighing 4 tons and located on a base with a height of 7.5 meters, symbolizing the ascent. He made it on August 26, 1922 to reach Kocatepe where the Great Offensive was launched and commanded, and besides the memorial, there is a ceremonial area and a set of trenches.
