Afyon Karahisar Archaeological Museum displays a wide range of artifacts from the Chalcolithic, Bronze Age, Hittite and Phrygian civilizations, ancient Greece and the Byzantine Empire. The initiative to establish a museum in Afyon Karahisar and record the events of the county goes back to 1928 when preliminary studies were carried out in the early years of the Ottoman Turkish “Association of Artifact Lovers” (Âsar-ı Atika Muhibleri Cemiyeti) and later by the “Community Centre”.
