Kerid is a popular crater lake in southern Iceland, close to the three main sites that make up the world-famous Iceland Sightseeing Golden Route. As for the crater, it belongs to a dormant volcano that is nearly three thousand years old, which makes it about half the age of most of the lava in Iceland, and because of the iron deposits that are present in it in abundance, it appears in red color, not black as the rest of the lava. The lake and nature mingle in a majestic image to form one of the most important natural attractions in the country.
