The Hindu Kehin Temple, the "mother temple" of the former Bengali kingdom, enjoys a wonderful location at the foot of a wooded hill on the island of Bali. It was dedicated to the god of fire, and feasts are still held there to honor the deities, making it an important site of religious worship. The inner sanctuary of the temple is also distinguished by a huge banyan tree and is decorated with many stone carvings. Its construction dates back to the eleventh century.
