One of the oldest monuments in Bali, Gunung Kawi Temple is famous for its ten seven-meter-high carved stone shrines, an archaeological site of Buddhist and Hindu religious rituals dating back to the 11th century. It has a great location on a cliff front in the northeast of Ubud, and to get to the temple you have to go down into a valley and cross beautiful rice fields.
