Information about Jebel Hafeet
Jebel Hafeet is a mountain in the city of Al Ain that belongs to the Al Hajar mountain range and is located on the border between the Sultanate of Oman and the UAE, where the eastern and southwestern two-thirds belong to the Sultanate of Oman, while the northern part belongs to the UAE. From below, the mountain appears to the viewer as a "whale on the beach" as described by Wilfrid Thesiger in his book Arabian Sands. The summit of Jebel Hafeet rises 1240 meters above sea level to occupy the first place in terms of height in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi and the fifth in the United Arab Emirates after Jebel Jais, Jebel Mabrah, Jebel Al Rahba and Jebel Al Ahqab, respectively. Important antiquities were discovered in its vicinity, representing an essential part of solving the mystery of the ancient history of this city. More than 500 archaeological burials were discovered at the foot of Jebel Hafeet, dating back more than 5,000 years.
