This museum was opened in 1952 within the Kulturpark in Izmir, but later moved to its current location on Ataturk Street near Konak Pier. The museum contains many paintings, statues and ceramic works on display, and most of the works belong to Turkish artists, Some are by foreign artists from different periods of time, and the museum also has a library with many books on art and art history open to all students and researchers.
