The Vieux Risan, also known as the Palais Mennier, dates back to 1518 and is considered one of the finest palaces of that era, originally built for Maynier Berenger; Professor of law and Lord Canac of Galicia, whose architectural style was strongly influenced by the Italian Renaissance, was completed in 1547 for civil writer Jean Brunet, and his architectural plans were decorated by the famous architect Nicolas Bachelier.
