With more than 2,000 exhibits, the Museu Homme do Norte was designed by sociologist and anthropologist Gilberto Freyre, and created with the intention of displaying an important collection that would represent and reflect the characteristics of life in the northern region of Brazil. The collection has been acquired over time. , through donations, purchases, assignments, and mergers. The museum offers a vision of the regional cultural breadth and demonstrates the everyday working techniques of the Amazons, transportation, housing, food, festivals, handicrafts, religiosity, myths and rituals.
