Information about Grand Mosque
The Grand Mosque is a luxurious mosque located near the shore of the Arabian Gulf that was opened in 1986 AD according to the directives of Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. Work on its construction began in 1979 and was completed in 1986. Its completion cost was about 14 million Kuwaiti dinars. Fifty engineers and four hundred and fifty workers contributed to its construction. The mosque was designed by the architect Muhammad Saleh Makiya and chose to design it in the luxurious Andalusian style. The area of the mosque is 45,000 square meters, of which 25,000 square meters are built, and 20,000 square meters are open, forming the mosque’s external gardens and corridors, and it is the largest mosque in the State of Kuwait.
