Tell Guzelkul, the first settlement in Tarsus and located in the center of the region today, was excavated by an American team between (1935-1949) AD as a project for Bryn Mawr College under the direction of Hetty Goldman. It is known that this settlement, which is understood to have been established about 9000 years ago in the Neolithic era, was inhabited for a long time and without interruption until the early Islamic era, where the remains of rocks and fossils indicate that, and today the hill is one of the most important archaeological areas that history lovers visit and effects.
