Gorky Park is the oldest parks in the city of Minsk, which was founded in 1800 AD in the name of City Gardens. The park got its current name in honor of the Soviet-era writer in 1936. The garden was originally modeled after a classic English garden, and the hugely popular public space has undergone many transformations over the years. Today it is geared towards children although people of all ages frequent it, and it is home to a theme park complete with a 56-meter ferris wheel, small observatory, planetarium and indoor skating rink.
