Gladstone grounds reflect the lifestyle of the different residents who lived in each apartment, and the building has been furnished to give visitors an idea of the living conditions at the time. The building on this plot was erected in 1550 but was redeveloped in 1617 by merchant Thomas Gladstone who leased parts of the building to different tenants of different socioeconomic standing.
