Founded in the city center in 1852, the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg is Germany's largest museum of cultural history and houses a large collection of exhibits and works on German culture that span from prehistoric times to the present day. It holds a total of approximately 1.3 million objects (including the Library's holdings and the Department of Prints and Graphics), of which approximately 25,000 are on display.
