Gandhi Square is located in the center of Johannesburg. It was formerly known as Van Der Bijl Square and Government Square. It was renamed after the politician Mahatma Gandhi. The square has existed since 1900 AD, and today it is considered one of the famous central squares in the city. It is surrounded by many commercial centers and various buildings, and the most characteristic of the square is the monument that holds a statue of Gandhi, which was erected in 2003 AD.
